Laria looks like an innocent, sweet girl....until you die....that's when the fun begins. "Oh you want a res? Sure, you're coming back. Just not as you!"

Well, I started out with a Warrior and really needed a long time to get accustomed to Necros in Prophecies. Now my Necro is my main char.
Necros are not hot before level 20, but then the fun begins. I just find it so much more satisfying to mess up mobs and players with hexes and conditions. It is almost like Judo when melee chars destroy themselves with IAS and Insidious Parasite on them.
I prefer Curses, but Minion Master is also nice. I feel the blood line is a bit lacking, which is sad, as the vampire theme should be more of a hallmark of the Necro class imo.
Mesmers are also cool, Necros and Mesmers just have their tricks. This is what makes them so interesting to play.
I hardly can stand playing my Warrior anymore at all *. Nor does nuking with my Elementalist. Or playing a Healer Ele. I occasionally heal in Arenas, CMs or ABs, but it just does not have that MEAN quality of screwing someone over with a Mesmer or Necromancer.
My suggestion:
Necro+Mesmer+Ritualist class mix for Guild Wars 2. No comments about the balance problems of this unholy marriage, please.
* = I sometimes use a HaO Spear Ranger if I want to dish out autoattack damage. I guess I love the pet/amazon theme.
